That all depends on the age of the child, length of care, whats involved etc.
For instance, for in home childcare everyday I charged 30.00 a day per child, 35.00 a day per infant (under 1 year), this was unliscenced care (but qualified.) I charged 12.00 a day for after school care.

Last night we paid a teenager 30.00 to watch our 4 and 2 yr old kids for about 2.5 to three hours. She changed 1 diaper all night.

I think for daily care a flat rate is best, because 10.00 an hour per workday is 100.00 a day, no one can afford that. A special night out though may only require a few hours, so an hourly rate would apply.

Generally you charge more for infants, less for potty trained children, and even less for those almost old enough to watch themselves. Example:

0-12 months 35.00 a day
1 yr to potty trained 30.00 a day
Trained to age 7-8 25.00 a day
8 or older maybe only 20.00 a day since they are pretty self sufficient.

Be sure to factor in food, who will provide it for the child? For the sitter?

I usually baby sit and I usually get $8 dollars an hour and I have been babysitting the kids since they have been babysitting. If you don't know how much you want the parents to pay you, talk to your parents and see what they suggest. Then talk with the parents of the kids your babysitting for. Good luck.

I babysit alot. I'm sure the baby can walk and can eat some grown up food like cherrios and stuff. i would say about 7 to 10 dollars an hr depending how polite she is and see how well she gets along with the baby.

in urban areas it is typically 5-7 an hour. the more affluent an area, the more is expected. (obviously the more children, the more you pay) I suggest you make an offer along with the responsibilies included. Do you want them to pick up the toys when the baby naps? Prepare lunch? Take them for walks? These are sticky situations if they aren't discussed up front. Keep in mind that even if you find a bargain babysitter it is your child and if you aren't comfortable with him/her there really is no bargain.

I pay a private babysitter for the workday and she charges $3.00 an hour. (Milwaukee WI) If I'm going out at night, the teenagers usualy charge about $5-$6 an hour. I'm not sure why the difference.

It depends on your area. In Missouri about 2.50 to 3.00 an hour if you are talking about leaving it with a teen for a few hours at night or something. Durning the day its totally different.

It really depends who you are babysitting for. Some are rich, and others are poor. How long will you be babysitting him?Thats another thing that can change the rate.
