Though each subject teacher will tell you what they want - you will probably be safe if you start with a pencil case which has a pack of quality black pens, a pack of pencils (rubber are the best at not breaking and sharpening well), an eraser, and a pencil sharpener. Then you will need a pack of wide ruled paper and a pack of college ruled paper, just in case. Also have for each class a paper folder that already has had the three holes punched it. Buy one 3 ring binder that is all plastic so it fits better and you should need a big enough book bag to carry your things

Get a paper from Wal-mart...most of the time they have papers telling you what grade from what school needs what. They can be in the supplies section or in the front when you walk in...your school should have a list that they give out before you start school. Also its normally almost everything you had last year.

Cheap plastic binders, calculator, ruler (any straight object will work), colored pencils, paper (lots of it), a big eraser, two red, blue, and black ink pens. Don't they usually give out a list at Staples or the Office Depot for this stuff?

Your school should be able to provide you a list. In my area, the local Walmart has a rack with lists for different grades at all of the area schools.
