They seem to learn about the birds and bees earlier and earlier. They think that it will never happen to them and don't use birth control. Also, some girls want so much to feel loved, they want a baby. Yet, they are babies themselves.

What a stupid question! You obviously need to be more precise when it comes to being inquisitive! I'm 19, and became pregnant right out of high school- the father, my boyfriend for 4 1/2 years. We used protection, and were not dumb or ignorant, and only immature by age. Your question makes a generalization that all young mothers are simply DUMB. Not in my case, thank you. I graduated Valedictorian from high school, and I am currently a full-time Honors student at CSUF (CA).
So you ask the reason why young girls are getting pregnant- There is no one answer. Every young woman has their own story!!! Get over the fact that there isn't an answer for everything!!!

honestly there is no difference in how young girls are getting pregnant now verses back in the 50's and stuff. Did you know that, traditionally girls were married off at the age of 14, and pregnant and running a house hold at 15 or 16, in the early 1900's? Do you know what happened to young pregnant girls in the 50's - 70's, even the 80's? They were sent to special schools, basically hidden from the public eye.
The difference now days, is that we as a society can now actually see the results of teen sex, in their arms. Families are no longer as ashamed as they used to be, over there 17 year old being 8 months pregnant....
is it right or wrong? I do not know...I was a mother at 18, and I think that for me it was a good thing.
But as far as media and such, yes there are big booties flashing on the screens and people having sex in and on the movies, but we still decide what we allow our children to be exposed to.

They are getting pregnant so young because they might see other kids around their age having a baby and they want to be the same. It's also an influence from the website, t.v a peers. Also if they have a boy friend that wants them to have sex and they are not quick enough to say no, then that's other reason why. My best advice is wait until your married, because having a baby to young can result in a lot of problems with the baby when he/she gets older.

I think most everyones comments are "because they're stupid".....unless you have personally gotten pregnant at a young age, then you should not make assumptions like this. You know what happens when you assume....I am a young mother (19) and both of my children were planned. I am not stupid...nor was it because "I couldn't keep my legs closed". Most of the morons think that just because you were young, that it was unplanned, well GUESS AGAIN! Like I said, both of mine were planned and I wouldn't trade it for the world! And yes I am single because their father died while overseas in Iraq, so all you hateful people that want to talk crap on teen parents, maybe you should know their circumstances BEFORE you say things like that...idiots

I can answer this being only 17 and pregnant....
i didnt think it could happen to me....AND i did use bc and condoms...but they didnt work...
yes i made a mistake....and even though im only 3 weeks along...im keeping it....im gonna make a name for myself...
its not that were stupid...just dont always use our heads....we want to be grown up....and maye being grown up should wait...
im not ready by any means...but i have to face the facts...and i really dont care what other ppl say or what they think....because im rather mature...i have a job, and its not fast food...its a job that i can advance in...no bagging grocies...not asking would you like fries with that shake....
and im not f***ing every bob...tom...and jerry i see....
so when you ask a question like that...remember the teens that will read it...and try to think of what it feels like to be in there shoes...
maybe none of you thought you would be stupid enough to get pregnant...but honestly how many of you were having sex at a young age???

I am younger. I am only 23 and I have been sexually active since I was 14. Not something I am proud of. I was fortunate enough to not get pregnant until 7 months ago. I think younger girls are just misguided now-a-days. Things are so much different. Girls are developing at 10 instead of 14 and they are having sex at 11 instead of 15 and 16. Parents aren't being forward and upfront with their daughters. Sex is a subject parents like mine always put off as long as they could. Girls just need guidance and need to be informed. Maybe if we stay honest and true with them than they will stay honest and true with themselves.

I think that it has a lot to do with how they are raised. I 'm not saying that they must have been raised badly, I'm just saying that maybe they weren't given enough information or their parents may not have been so strict on how they live. Or it could just be that they wanted to, too. Either way it is, I still suggest that everyone use protection. A baby isn't rocket science, but it isn't exactly like riding a bike either. Just think it through before you decide to have sex. As great as it is, anything can happen even on birth control.Good luck to all the girls who have children and or that are going to have children and to who are thinking about having sex.

Because they are stupid and trying to grow up to quickly. Maybe their parents don't teach them about sex soon enough. I think that part of sex ed should be for all the girls to see a 14yr old give birth. Then they might understand that a baby is life and not just something you can pass off on your parents to deal with. Grrrr... (active since I was 16, pregnant intentionally for the first time at 23)

The family has changed. You have less supervision. Standard morals have changed. More parents are working longer hours. Leaving much time for sexual and drug activity. Sex is everywhere and quite a few teens have the idea (for some ungodly reason) that having a baby is the-e-e-e thing to do. Unfortunately the child always pays and the cycle begins. What ever happen to the morals of June Cleaver?

I was a product of a young couple my mother was 14 when i was born. I think it has nothing to do with tv and it has everything to do with communication between parents and kids.also peer pressure.I myself was sexually active at 13 but never got pregnant till i was 32 go figure. my advise to the ones that are thinking about having or have already done so please talk with your parents and educate yourself about stds and aids or come to my house and watch my 4 month old son for a day and then decide wheather or not your ready to be a mom or a dad.
