See above answer regarding salary.com. It is not a very reliable source since the data they use cannot be independently verified. Your job is a fairly common one in auto dealerships and also relates well to the jobs of the folks in auto financing (those who actually write and fund the loans). There is reliable salary survey data that you may be able to find in a library or through your company's HR department. Companies like Watson Wyatt, Mercer Consulting, Hewitt, or Towers Perrin survey pay information for thousands of jobs.

Keep in mind that someone with more years of service will likely be paid more, regardless of years of actual experience. Good luck!

I have to agree with the poster who said to be wary of the info that you get on salary.com It is not very accurate. If you read the small print it will tell you that the info is based on companies with 1,000 employees.

If your co-worker has been there twice as long he should be making more money. This is why co-workers are not supposed to share their income details with each other. Were you comfortable with what you were making before you found out what he makes?

You might look at employment ads. Also check out blogs and web sites dealing with auto finance. You could make anonymous inquiries at many sites and might get some feed back.

Make sure you compare apples with apples, i.e. size of dealership and work load.

Best wishes

Ask around here. I'm sure people'll tell you their annual salaries since no one can bother to see any other personal info about them.
