I remember reading something like this in a men's magazine,
"Body hair is the sign of a good working reproductive mechanism(or something like that), so tell your smooth chested friends they're a bunch of nancies"
Well anyway,
Hairy chest may not look as aesthetic. Smooth male chests are so common in media that it's hard now to accept the idea of chest hair especially for younger generations.
Depends on culture as well. You may find out that many european women prefer hairy chested men. A rather masculin, grown-up look.
I'm not saying that guys should never shave their chests and legs for aesthetic purposes. (though the idea is still pretty weird for me) But hairy chest should not be rejected either. Ofcourse we're talking about an acceptable amount of body hair here.
So basically, I think it shouldn't be as overrated as piercings on both sexes or earrings on guys, which only looks cool on some. Not the majority.

Hairy chest is just so turnoff for me i prefer guys with hairless chest it feels good and looks clean

I don't really care. I care on what's in the inside. But I still prefer Hairless.

Hairless... I can't stand a hairy chest. I ask my husband to shave his, and if he doesn't I pick on him until he does.
"What's that.... " brushing on his chest. "you got something on ya"... "let me get that off for you"

I dont have a preference. I just like natural chests. Some guys look great all hairy and burly and some look great all smooth. I can tell you what I dont like- shaved or waxed chests. Thats just gross. I like guys who are comfortable in their own skin and dont try to be something they arent. Its hard not to snicker at the primma donna boys that obviously shave themselves. who wants to date a high maintenance boy? yuck
