Probably Wayne Rooney. I think he is only 20, so he can probably play in at least 3 more tournaments, and we know england will always qualify and go far, so he has a good chance.

Miroslav Klose, of Germany also has a good chance beacuse he already has 9, and he will be back for at least one more time.

But Ronaldo already has 15, and by the time the tournaments over he may have 17 or 18. I think it will be a long time until the record is broken, and it may even be by someone we haven't heard of yet.

Lionel Messi...despite the undoubted ability of this phenomenal youth, will not score 15 simply because as a playmaker he provides more than scores!

Wayne Rooney...although touted as a great forward, i don't believe in his finishing ability great build up player but misses far too much and this is undoubtedly a poacher's record!

Miroslav Klose...now here's a guy already with 9 goals and still alive in the competition this season plus being 28 i believe he still has at least one more in him, who knows?

Fernando Torres...at 22, even though he has already been eliminated with 3 goals, he does have a shot even if it is only an outside shot but playing Spain doesn't help because it usually only means getting 4-5 games a tourney instead of 7!

Lukas Podolski...at 21, he already has 3 goals and is still alive in the tourney so that does bode well for him. If he does play at two more finals, maybe even a fourth then he could get close providing the Germans young talent continues to be as attacking minded as the class of 2006.

BUT in my belief of the class of World Cup 2006, i do not see anyone getting 15 goals, maybe someone yet to have began his World Cup career might but i think 15 might just be too much to surpass!

Argentina's team is extremely young at the moment, and most of them will be around playing together for 2-3 tournaments. That chemistry together will definitely allow messi and tevez to compete for ronaldo's title. Having 2 strikers of this quality on the same team might cause the goal tally for each to be lower tho. Another player i would watch out for is Podolski from Germany. He already has 3 goals this world cup and hes only 21. That means he still has 3 world cups in him.
All 3 of these players have a head start over Ronaldo since he didnt even play in his first world cup, but each of these players already has a goal in their name.

Probably not born yet! Ronaldo can still up the ante to 20 or so in the 3 remaining games at FIFA2006. Then, think of the genius who can beat that! And as football talent is levelling out globally, it will be teams rather than individual players who will prosper. So for the foreseeable future, Ronaldo's record is safe!

Ronaldo has more games to play, hopefully three more or at least one more game and he is more than likely to score more. I think it will take generations to break this record, if at all it can be broken. Definitely not Klosen because he is almost the same age as Ronaldo.

What about Ronaldo comnig back next time and score more? Why not? He is only 29.

I'm thinking it will be MIROSLAV KLOSE of Germany because he has already 5 goals to his name and just need 10 more to tie it and 6 to conquer it! Maybe he won't do it in just 1 World Cup, maybe the next World Cup in South Africa will be his lucky year to pass Ronaldo!

Klose aus Deutschland.. he already scored 10 goals in two tournaments, 5 goals each.. if Germany makes it to the final, he'll probably score one or two more goals..

I'm sure he'll still be playing for Germany in WC 2010 & breaks Ronaldo's record that year

I think that Cristiano Ronaldo from Portugal will beat the scoring record of Ronaldo of Brazil because he is very young and is a very good player.

Theo Walcott of England. At 17 he'll be around for a bit and in 4 years he could lead England to a WOrld Cup title
