IE is a terrible browser. It has massive security holes and doesn't have a lot of useful features found in other browsers like Mozilla Firefox or Opera.
The only advantage it has is marketshare in that if a website is designed to work in it, most people will have no trouble using it (unless you own a Mac or run Linux).
The two best free browsers are Opera and Mozilla Firefox. (See www,Opera.com or www.getfirefox.com to get either). Both have much better security, tabbed browsing, better password storage and generally load webpages faster. Firefox is a memory hog, but is extremely customizable with extensions. I for example, have little extra programs that I added on to it that check my yahoo email accound and my gmail account and alert me to new mail. I can also unclose tabs, and block ads.
Opera is much more lightweight and is probably the fastest at loading webpages. It isn't as customizable and has a much less market share. But it is very easy to use and is a very nice browser, especially for the non-power user of the internets.
Just note that some webpages, notibly those that use ActiveX controls like windows update or Panda Active scan will not work in Firefox or Opera, although Firefox has an extension called IE Tab that will let you open an internet explorer window in a tab.

Definetly Mozilla Firefox. It loads the pages faster than Internet Explorer. You just have to download it off this page : http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/... Also I. Explorer has many holes and bugs. Mozilla also checks the script before running it.

Internet Explorer is the main target for viruses and hacking, BUT there are some programs like certain games that will only work with IE.
Mozilla tends to be more stable, safer, and easier (IMO) to use.
Personally, I have both - I use Mozilla mostly, then fire up IE for things that won't work properly in Mozilla.

Mozilla. You actually don't have to subscribe to aol to use their browser. Just download Aol messenger for free and the browser comes with it.

If you have a windows PC then it should have come with Internet Explorer (if you are not in the EU), so there was no need to download it. Anyways, you should have gotten the latest version (IE7) from the MS website. Double click on the file you downloaded, then step through the install process. The first time you run IE, it should ask you if you want to make it the default. Click yes, and you should be all set. Although you really should stick with the more secure firefox ;)

Firefox Mozilla. It loads the pages faster on my browser. It also comes with its own download manager, and remembers logins and passwords, useful when I'm the only one using my computer.

Firefox consumes the most system resources, but it's the only one that checks the script before running it (this is one of the reasons it's considered the best one), IE has many bugs!!! and Opera is better then IE and prefered by many because of it's smallest size and because it doesn't consume a lot (plus Opera implements many new features like embeded Widgets, Torrent download, etc...).
