Well, It all depends on what you can afford when staying. There are 3 categories of resorts on Disney property: value, moderate, and deluxe. My favorite resorts for value are POP Century and the All-Star Movies. If you can afford it though, I highly reccomend at least a moderate because all the values aren't that great. They have average pools (no waterslides or anything), the rooms are super small, and they have foodcourts, but not a full service restaurant. My favorite moderates are Caribbean Beach and Coronado Springs. Caribbean beach has the theme of exactly what it implies and Coronado is a mexican style theme. Disney's Caribbean Beach is one of my favorite resorts because of the property its on. Everything is so scenic and pretty. Everything (except the lobby) is located in Old Port Royale, there is the food court, the full service restaurant (Shutter's), and the gift shops. You really feel like your at the beach because they have this pond like structure with sand all around with hammocks on the sand and things like that. You can rent boats there too. Plus, the resort is divided up into villages, and each village has its own pool. But, the main pool is great, waterslide, etc.
For a deluxe resort, I would reccomend any one that has a monorail that goes through it, or has other transportation other than a Disney bus. Disney Buses are okay, but they're usually just not comfortable because usually they're so full you have to stand, and you have to wait for them at their stop. if you stay at The contemporary, The Polynesian, or the Grand Floridian you get the monorail that comes right to your hotel and can take you to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. Plus, at night the Contemporary offers some great views of the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom. At these other deluxe resorts, The Boardwalk, The Beach Club, and The Yacht Club, you can walk to EPCOT, short walk, or take a nice scenic boat ride to Disney MGM Studios. Personally, I just reccomend staying somewhere where the Disney bus transportation isn't your only option. It can get quite annoying.
Restaurants, restaurants, restaurants! Hmmm.
well, at the Magic Kingdom my favorite sit down and dine restaurant is Tony's Town square which looks as though it came straight out of "Lady and the Tramp". Great Italian food, too!
At Animal Kingdom my favorite restaurant is called "The Tusker House" and is in Africa, where The Kilamanjaro safari is, so maybe grab a fastpass to that ride and come eat at The tusker house! They have the best roteissere chicken. mmm good.
At EPCOT my favorite restaurant is located in Mexico and is called "the San Angel Inn". Its located inside that big pyramid looking thing, where the Mexico ride is. thats what makes it so cool. As you eat, you can easily watch the little boats leave to go on their ride and the ambiance is fantastic. its dark so its definitely romantic, also great mexican food! They do offer a kids menu, just in case you're traveling with children.
At MGM Studios my favorite restaurant of all time is the Sci-fi Dine In Movie Theater. Your tables are inside cars and theres a huge screen that shows clips of sci fi movies so you truly feel like you're in a drive in movie. Great Food too!
At Downtown Disney I love rainforest cafe because once again the interior decoration, ambiance, and food is nothing short of fabulous.
Ready for dessert?
I suggest Beaches and Cream located at the Beach Club resort on the Boardwalk. Best ice cream ever and you'll feel like you just stepped into a little 1950's ice cream parlor on the beach. Once again, ambiance.
Have a Magical trip!
Hope I could be of service to you!

Staying on site at the Walt Disney World Resort is probably the best bet. There are three levels of resorts at WDW
*Value
*Moderate
*Luxury
All of the hotels are good, but others offer some nice amenities.
I like Pop Century for Value, Caribbean Beach Resort for Moderate, and Animal Kingdom Lodge for Luxury. As written before, Beach/Yacht Club is a vey nice resort near Epcot. If you want a resort with Monorail service, the Polynesian, Contemporary, and Grand Floridian are all Luxury class and on the loop near Magic Kingdom.
There are many fine places to eat also, and some already mentioned are great. Ohana at the Polynesian is another option. A very inexpensive option is the Trails End Buffet at Fort Wilderness. It all depends on your likes/taste.
Make sure you check is the restaurant offers reservations since waits are long. You should reserve right away since some offer reservation 180 days in advance. 407-WDW-DINE
www.allearsnet.com is an excellent source for information about Walt Disney World.
A good book is the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World.

We go about every year!! We stay ay the Disney World Resort for military called Shades of Green. My favorite place to eat, is this restaurant where you eat with Pooh and Piglet and all of them! It was SO much fun. You'd have to look into it though, I don't remember the name. It's in Magic Kingdom though! Oh, and make some time to watch the fire work display at Epcot! It is AMAZING!!!!! I am so serious!! Have So much fun! I'm going in December. July is gonna be really crowded so make sure you are ready for some Major lines and make sure that if you plan to eat at a restaurant that is popular, call in a few days before and get a reservation. Otherwise, we are talking like a three hour wait! I a not exaggerating.

If you plan to eat at one of the fine restaurants in the park make sure you make your reservations when you first arrive in the park otherwise you will not get the pleasure of eating there. Best places to stay, well, that would depend on your budget. At that time of year you can get decent hotel rooms just outside of Disney in Kissimmee for a fraction of the price you would pay to stay on Disney property. If you do stay on Disney property it will cost more but you will get great service and very clean properties. One tip for going during July. That is the rainy season and do not be surprised if it rains during the afternoon hours. This is very common and the parks usually start to clear out during this time. Take advantage of this time and do not leave the park. It will usually rain for about an hour, cool down, and will turn pleasant weatherwise for the rest of the day and evening. While most will leave the park, this will leave you with short lines and plenty of time to shop without having to wait in lines. Most will return to the parks after 5 or 6pm and stay until closing, which in turn, will make the lines long again. Have fun and enjoy your vacation. We have and have been there more than 30 times, and also had a relative that worked for Disney for about 2 years.

If you are going this year you may have a hard time finding a room. July is pretty busy.
I always stay onsite, so my recommendation is:
Value: Pop Century:
Moderate: Coronado
Deluxe: Yacht and Beach Club, Polynesian or Grand Floridian
As far as where to eat, everything is good, it just depends what you are looking for and how much you want to spend. There are tons of counter-service meals, they are all pretty much the same. If you are on a budget, Tusker House and Earl of Sandwich are both good and less than $10 per person. If you have a little more to spend Coral Reef, La Celliers, etc. are all good. Character meals are moderately priced as well, one of my favorites is Chef Mickeys. Beaches and Cream is also really good. If you want to spend a little more Victoria and Albert's is a great splurge.
But really, you can't go wrong, no matter where you stay or where you eat.

Well, of course it all depends on your budget.
Best place to stay for me? Fort Wilderness Lodge, Hands Down. It's got it all! Awesome rooms, The Pool totally kicks butt! Also the imagineers went all out on the design and decor. I mean, you walk into the main lodge, and you look up, and it's like WOW! I *live* locally and I have stayed there numerous times (because the company was paying for it..lol) I mean, it still get's me when I walk in there. Sadly, the price for a room is up there, I think the cheapest I have stayed there was for $85 a night, the most was upward of $200+ a night. If you dont get to stay there, I reccommend visiting anyway, the all you can eat Barbeque restraunt in the main lodge is really good, and moderately priced.
Did I mention the Fort Wilderness lodge has it's own guyser?
My all-time favorite place to eat at Disney ATM is Mama Melrose's in the Disney MGM Studios. It's really good italian, and again, moderately priced.

Best hotel - Yacht and Beach club, or Grand Floridian if you can afford it
Best food - hard to go wrong there! Try Citricos, Boma, Flying Fish, Cape May Clam Bake, any of the countries at Epcot. There are some nice ones at Downtown Disney too, like Emerils or Fulton's Crab House, and you dont need park tickets to get in there. The ultimate is Victoria and Alberts, but its darn expensive and very formal.
If you have kids, try a character breakfast at the Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom, or the Floridian hotel, Polynisian hotel, Contemporary resort and Beach Club hotel all have them too. You can do a dinner with the Disney Princesses at Magic Kingdom or the Norway castle in Epcot.
Call 407-WDW-DINE before you go to make reservations, especially in the busy times of year, or you wont get in.

I would suggest you stay onsite. It allows you early entry into the parks which is valuable this time of year to give you a jump on the crowds. I have stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and the Contemporary. The Contemporary was my favorite if you stay in the main building.
I love to eat at the 50's Prime Time cafe. It is good home-cooking. The decor is right out of the 50's including 50's reruns on the tv's. The waitresses remind you to wash your hands if you go to the bathroom and they suggest no junk food before dinner along with many other insults. It is really fun. It is at MGM.
At EPCOT we loved the Japanese chef restaurant. It was delicious and the chef provided much entertainment. The Princess breakfast at Magic Kingdom is wonderful, but it is booked early. It is served in the castle with all the princesses wandering around to sign autographs. If you cant get into that one the Grand Floridian has a breakfast with Gepetto, Pinocchio, the Mad Hatter, Alice and Mary Poppins that was great too!!! It wasn't quite as crowded... I think Pooh even showed up at that one.

This question will offer such subjective answers...you'll have to base your choice on what you like in the answer first....
But, before we get to that...
YOU MUST MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS STAT...NOW...PRONTO....CALL DISNEY at 407 wdisney and ask for the AAA rate...
Look to go to a hotel within the transportation system...either the Polynesian (recently refurbished beautifully by all accounts) the Contemporary, the Grand Floridian (all by the Magic Kingdom), or the Beach and Yatch (spelling) Club (a short walk to EPCOT and a boat to MGM...
Otherwise, you'll have much longer commutes (yes, I said commutes) to the various plarks and attractions...you need to stay within striking distance...even if it means monorails, a short walk or two (by DIsney standards) and a boat or monorail or something...
Get the hopper pass so that you can gavigate betwen the parks to do this best.
Places to eat...
MK - Liberty Tree Tavern for Dinner - Birch beer, yummy
EPCOT - Restaurant at the Living Seas and most all international restaurants EXCEPT CHINA...too expensive and you get better take out at home
MGM Hollywood Brown Derby and 50's Diner...
I haven't tried at Animal Kingdom
Most character meals are run of the mill...but you can't go wrong with the Mickey Buffet at the Contemporary Resort...it si a great breakfast...all you can eat and Mickey, too...
Want more...write me back...
Sincerely,
Commando Disney

The best place is on site, it doesn't matter where you stay but on site is the best. For the value resorts I like the Pop Century Resort, for the moderate I like the Port Orleans- Riverside, and for deluxe resort I like the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Now as far a somewhere to eat I like Beaches and Cream at the Yacht and Beach Club resorts, 50s Prime Time Cafe at MGM, and Japan at Epcot.
