I think your friend is overgeneralizing a little bit. Americans don't all hate Indians. There are some Americans who make fun of Indians for their accents, but these are close-minded, ignorant people who hate all foreigners. Other Americans confuse Indians with Arabs and, as a result, end up hating anyone with dark skin because they assume all people with dark skin, including Indians, are Islamic terrorists. This is not only disgusting behavior; it's downright embarrassing that these people don't realize that most Indians are Hindus, not Muslims.

I used to know a couple of people from the South of India (Hyderabad and Kerala) who were wonderful, intelligent people, and who cooked some of the best, most delicious, spiciest Indian food I've ever tasted in my life. Unfortunately, they moved overseas years ago, but I'm the richer for having known them. And to be honest, their English was better than that of many the Americans I know!

Humm interesting... I didn't know we did. I guess I missed that memo. My father in law was born in India raised in Singapore and I like him just fine.
