It depends on how much music you're wanting to put on your iPod in the first place. If you've got 6 gig or less, then the Mini would be the best bargain (just be sure you get the 2nd Generation because the battery life of the 1st Generation is crap). If you've got 20 gig or less, I would go with the 5G model. 20+ gig... go for a video iPod (30 gig or 60 gig). I've got the 60 gig version and it is well worth it. :P

Definitely go with the 5th generation (5g) Video iPod. It might be a better idea to wait until Christmas, when the newer versions will be coming out. The 30gb has a lot of memory in the perfect size; thinner than a mini! It also has a crisp color screen. But beware, if you're going to get an iPod buy a case immediately! Hope this helps.

get the 30gb video, its thinner than the 60gb one, and its cheaper. it holds 7500 songs, 75 hours of video, and 25,000 pics!

It also depends what you want to use the ipod for. I have a 30 GB one and its great for me to workout with and it still holds a lot of song. The 60 GB is definitely thicker and a bit heavier. So it depends on you

60GB all your music you want, but if you don't have a lot of music (which i doubt) get the 30GB.

This is a big purchase if your a college kid, with lots of cash and no job.
Try going to stores that you can try some, or some review magazine.
Bookstores have magazines on portable music.
