How and where did the term "preggers" come about? And why do people feel the need to use the word?

It's irritating and idiotic. Just say pregnant! Whenever I heard the word "preggers" I think of Britney Spears. Don't know why, I just do.

It's from the movie "For Keeps" with Molly Ringwold when she had a baby while still in high school.

i think it was used in some 1980s movie. and thus became popular. it irks me too.
