He does, but he'd be willing to waive it for the best interests of the team. Smoltz has the right to veto any deal as a player with 10 years of major-league service, five with the same team.

The Braves hold an $8 million option on Smoltz, 39, for the 2007 season, the same salary the right-hander is earning this year.

(If I were him, I'd be ready to leave that stinkin' team and thumb my nose at all of those bums in the bullpen that keep blowing his wins....)

He does not have a no-trade clause written into his deal, but as a 10-5 player (10years of major league service and the previous five with the same team), he does get the right to refuse any assignment or trade.

His full contract: under a previous 3-year deal, he would have made 12M in 2005, after a Team Option become GUARANTEED with 61GF in 2004- + he could have earned 100K for every start----signed 2-year EXTENSION worth 20M thru the 2006 season that SUPERCEDED his previous contract on 12/16/04- he will receive a 6M signing bonus- + he will make salaries of 6M in 2005 and 8M in 2006- + the new deal includes a Team Option for 2007 worth 8M- + he did not receive a bonus for a 2005 All-Star selection
