i loved my freshman year of college...i have never laughed more, or cried in my entire life. I lived on Campus and that was DEFINITELY a new experience for me because I was in a CO-ED dorm, on the same floor with football players and baseball players, and gymnasts (don't know why i was put on this floor but it was FUN) ...freshman year is that time in your life were you finally realize...YOU ARE GROWN..YOU ARE NOW RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING YOUR OWN DECISIONS AND HANDLING THE CONSEQUENCES THAT COME WITH THOSE DECISIONS.....

I learned that racism still exists, I learned about towns in my own state that I had never even heard of!, I learned how to tolerate all sorts of peoples attitude and how to ignore them, i mean its such a wake up call in life.......i wouldn't trade my freshman year for anything....its all of the above and more.....

It was the first time in my life I felt free to do what I please......i went to party's, drank, and still made the deans list...so it all depends on how you handle this new found freedom..... but i don't regret anything ,,,,nothing but good memories to tell my children....

I started college when I was 16 (turned 17 a week after moving in). I lived in a dorm and was about an hour away from home. For me it was the worst 10 weeks of my life. I wasn't prepared for all those changes, even though I was ready for college. I ended up moving home after a quarter and did some work at a community college which really got me ready for what university had to offer. I got my BA and MA and will start working on my PhD this fall so, for me, the bad start to my freshman year didn't ruin things completely.

I hate that no one has really hit this question.

My first year of college was at a Junior college, I strictly went to school and work, and had a bit of fun on the weekend (nothing to serious). Now I am about to move off to a University... as a freshman and a half. I hope to become very involved and have alot of fun, while maintaining some good grades.

Both. One thing that straight A high school students don't seem to realize is that college is sooooooo much harder. A lot more work has to be put in in order to get a good grade.

I didn't go to college after high school (where I'd taken a secretarial course). I do go now, as a much older student (though there are quite a few of us doing that). It is difficult after not being in school for so many years. One thing that did help me get decent grades (so far) is the fact that I homeschooled two of my children for a couple of years - and used college telecourses to teach them with (in addition to other methods).

Loved freshman year! I was at Syracuse, which sort of sucked since it can snow at the end of May there, but snow is always an excellent excuse for not going to class! My classes were good. Some, like the huge lectures of 700+ students kind of sucked but there were those that were smaller, more private classes that I really enjoyed. I actually managed to maintain my grades and party my freshman year... went downhill from there though!

I think it is most important to be involved in the school, the schoolwork, and the parties... you gotta experience everything!
