D. If it weren't for the preservation of the Union we would be 2 3rd world countries. A country divided against itself cannot stand... that is obvious. Not to mention would never have been the melting pot that we are nor would we have been able to learn all the great things that we have from all of the races. By far I believe that our country would not be here today if it weren't for that war. Nothing else since then has been so momentous. It was the beginning of a snowball that is still collecting snow cleaning up our nation and making us all better.

None of the above. The United States greatest achievement was winning the Revolutionary War against Great Britain.

I would say probably c or d out of the given answers. But to be honest I think it's greatest achievement was simply the creation of the country in the first place. We made this country from virtually nothing. We are the first and only country to accomplish that and I do believe that was something amazing.

I'd say being the country where people can start new and lead a good life as long as they work hard... America may seem like a 'bully' or as they say, the 'Ugly Americans' but no one can deny the good quality of life that America has provided for those who cannot find the good life in their countries. Of course the above options are good too.

I would have to choose C.
a and b were awsome.
The Civil War only ended slavery in the U.S. where 7% of the slaves ended up. Eventually it spread to the islands. There is still slavery in Africa, China and other places.

I believe the US's greatest achievment was to win its independence from Britain in its first try...a group of 13 disjointed political entities banding together and defeating the most powerful nation on earth...Everything else is secondary.....decent answers though...
