they are opurtunist feeders.. i have 2 of them... dont over feed them.. whats their size?.. if around 4 inch.. then feed them turtle food of the size of their head.. and tubefix worms... dont feed them too much.. ur diet is over feeding them... they have a tendency to come to u for food, as though they are always hungry... remember they have wild instincts and in the wild they dont get food daily, so they try to accumulate.. u can test it.. get some tubefix live worms.. and try to feed them u'l observe he/she will come to u, even when its mouth is full... feed them light just twice a day... tell me their size i'll tell u the quantity.. also, keep the water clean and wash ur hands with anti-bacterial soap... they carry salmonella virus if their food is infected with it.. u never know... also, how much ever tempting it may be.. dont kiss them.. :)

I fed feeder goldfish to my red eared sliders about once a month. I would put in 24 fish for 3 turtles. On other weeks i would feed them crickets or worms.
I never used a turtle pellet ... As a main staple I would feed them some type of vegetable. They really liked squash (zucchini, acorn, pumpkin), broccoli, baby carrots, and tomatoes. Other fruits and vegetables I fed them were celery, spinach, peas (good for cleaning out their system), cauliflower, romaine lettuce, and apples.

For the next week or so, feed him kind of a lot, but remove uneaten food after about 30 minutes. This will tell you the baseline. Offer what it will eat in about 30 minutes every day.
As the turtle ages, it will change in its habits. Larger, less-frequent meals will become the norm.
You can also try various high-quality turtle or fish pellets to help save money and add convenience.

You cannot overfeed the turtle,as it will overeat and doing so may stretch and expand the turtle's insides which are kept in its shell. Feed the turtle as much as would fill its head and neck. Observe your turtle for excessive gain/loss of weight and adjust accordingly.
