Because religious people usually have stuff to live for! Example, in Christianity, my religion, it is the devil that wants you to die so you don't live out God's purpose in your life. The only time we die on purpose is dying for Jesus Christ! Or the Father, at that!
And plus if you commit suicide your disobeying God's commandments...but its forgiven...but I don't see how you repent on time!?!

Religious people know that suicide is one of the sins that will keep you out of heaven. Life is a gift from God. The intriging thing is that atheists don't believe in heaven so why would they cut the only life they will ever lead short? When you believe in nothing there is nothing to live for possibly???

A sin, eh? Last time I checked child-molesting was a sin. (Many preists in any religion). What about all the wars started over religion? The crusades? Africa? Isreal? I'm pretty sure that was a sin too.
Maybe they're too busy killing everybody else to commit suicide themselves.
Where's your data?
Is it the same with "attempted" suicude?

Religeous people believe in God. Among them it is believed that if one commits suicide, no matter how good they've been, they will not go to Heaven. Atheist, on the other hand, are not afraid of God, and are not concerned about goint to Heaven or Hell. That is why, they are more likely to commint suicide.

Love the question, don't have an answer. Perhaps the religious feel there is always something to look forward to?

You made that up all by yourself. All those suicide bombers were religious people. Provide proof or be quiet. My link would seem to disprove your statement

One possibility is that as a catholic, I was taught that suicide is the one sin you can never be forgiven for because you must ask for fogiveness and you can't since you're dead. So, you will go to hell.

Most sociologists I've read attribute this to religion's regulatory effect upon people.
