1&=0.55$
so for 30000& you get 54545,5$
54545,5=240x+720 =>240x=53825.5 => x=224,27
for 30000& you get 224 gadgets.
Careful, you don't get 224,27gadgets!

Not exactly. Y is the total cost of producing X units. 720 is the fixed cost (the cost even if no "gadgets" are made) and 240 is the variable cost per unit.

Replace Y with 30,000 and solve for X to find out how many you can make for $30,000. Be sure to round down to the next lower integer if it is not possible to make a partial "gadget". (In this case it is a whole number, but it may not always be.)

30,000= 240x + 720
30,000- 720=240x
29280 / 240 = x
122 = x

So what you have is:
y = 240x + 720
and
y = $30,000.00
which gives you:

30,000 = 240x + 720

30,000 - 720 = 240x + (720 - 720)

(30,000 - 720) / 240 = 240x / 240

(30,000 - 720) / 240 = x

29280 / 240 = x

122 = x

You have to solve for 'X'. X=122. Plug in 30,000 for y and then subtract 720 from both sides. Then divide both sides by 240.

Hope this helps...

the Equation y = 122

122= 240 * 122 + 720 = 30,000

Hope ya get an A :)

set your y variable to equal the cost $30,000. then solve for x.

30,000=240x +720.
