BTW! It's a children's playground see saw!

I know I need some kind of electric motor, but what else is necessary?

You would need a power source to power a gear reduction unit. From the gear reduction unit you would need to fabricate a cam that turned the rotation into up and down movement. From there you would connect to the cross arm of the see saw. Sizes, dimensions and rate of speed would all have to be worked out. Also a safety switch arrangement that would shut it off in and emergency. Sounds like a fun project. I am thinking that an old washer would provide the motor and the gear reduction unit.

you could probly use the motor outt the bottom out of a lift chair you may need to alter the arm on it to make it a little longer but it should work
