I have a good job now, but very boring and uninteresting. I am a very sociable person and always wanted to work in retail, specifically a high end store and be able to interact with people. The mall is an option, but would definately be a step backwards from where i am now. Do i go for what would make me happy or stick with the better financial decision?

financial decision. happiness will only get you so far. when you're bank account dwindles to nothing, you're happiness with that job will run out quick. stick to your uneventful job for now but keep phishing at those high end stores and maybe you'll find somthing that please your heart and your bank account at the same time.

Are there other people depending on you or are you on your own? If others are depending on you you might want to stick it out at least until you can find something that will be both satisfying and financially stable. If it is just you, being happy is the greatest priority because if you don't have a reason to be there you will probably start creating excuses to not go and that will hurt you later on. Money can buy security, not happiness. If you are secure, you can still be very unhappy.

I would try out the job in retail and see if you can work it out and put yourself on a tighter budget so that you can survive without making the same amount of money you do now. I am working at a shitty job right now and I am looking for ways to get the heck out and do somthing that I can enjoy and makes me happy.

You could at least give the retail job a try and see how you like it...if it doesn't work out, you could look for somthing with better pay.

I say take a chance!

Go for what makes you happy because you can always work more hours to make more money and be happy doing it. If you choose a job that you hate you will dread staying there to make the money in the first place. My husband did that he chose the job he enjoyed over the one with more money and now he gets about the same amount with overtime and he has fun doing it.

I would go for the happiness as long as you can support yourself obviously. I'm in a job that I hate just for the money, it's making me sick from the stress.

Most people hate their jobs, they LOATHE them. You're at work to work, 8hours a day, after that, have your fun. Take a step upward if you can, keep working towards that, but don't go backwards.

I think you should think long term. If you have many years left in your career, do what makes you happy, and find a way to live on less money.

depends on what you want : money (or career in the field you work now), pleasure (you can just have sx for that), social skills (better go in social science than work at mall), cheaper prices (better have those for employees)
