Bike Day was well promoted in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. One of the sponsors provides and opportunity for people to connect with others who commute to work by bike plus a map and partner to "practice commuting by bike to work, to acquaint people with the folks who are the political agents for change in the community for bikers, and an opportunity to network with other bikers. All Metros buses are fitted with bike racks. The restrictions on putting bikes on the subway have become more liberal in recent years. The United States of America does not provide tax incentives for people to ride bikes as in done in other some countries in Europe.
The price of gas will change the mind set of millions of drivers. I am finding less space at the bike racks these days for lock up.
The Mayor of Washington, D.C Anthony Williams has often during the course of his tenure been photographed riding a bike around the city.

Actually in the Denver area, today 6/28/06 is Bike to Work Day. They had a number of venders and rest stops throughout the town with drinks and breakfast items to promote the whole deal. Overall, I did see a number of bikes and I think everyone was having a good time. The Denver/Boulder area has a very devoted group of riders, but today there was even more. Denver even has a bike coordinator for the city. Don't know the number but contact them about promotion.

LeBron James sponsored a Bikathon in his hometown of Akron, Oh this past weekend.
Through his foundation, (James Family Foundation), LeBron distributed hundreds of bicycles to needy children in the area. He had some NBA friends come to help promote safe biking.
Kids who participated got to ride down Main Street with LeBron.
This was also a fundraiser for LeBron's foundation. He not only gives out bikes, but also contributes funds to local Boys and Girls Clubs and helps out children in his old neighborhood.

I think Lance Armstrong has done a lot for the general interest in bicycling. If there is enough interest, the press will follow!

bill O'Reilly - Tabloid journalism? he's were given an MA in Broadcast Journalism and decrease his the teeth with investigative reporting at significant market television stations - even incomes an Emmy in the technique. How is that 'tabloid' journalism? the real difficulty is that you're so used to seeing the 'left' point of view on the different networks. So at the same time as FOX covers 'all' of the records, it really is attacked for having a 'properly wing' point of view - because the different networks do not carry the thoughts it consists of. they gained't carry those thoughts - because all of them have a left-wing time table. Case and factor: ex-DOJ lawyer Christian Adams quits the Obama administration because Eric Holder refused to prosecute the Black Panthers -- regardless of video info of them status outside polling places with batons in hand. FOX is the in uncomplicated phrases community to disguise the tale in any respect. Google it. no longer something everywhere except FOX and correctly-wing classes. there's a difficulty there. you're aggravating about 'tabloid journalism?' How about 'corrupt journalism.' I factor to reveal "A" - all the cable information networks except FOX -- plus ABC, NBC and CBS. that would want to be your genuine difficulty.
