Good question. My UNFOUNDED GUESS is that as the game started, more players (like the rest of the population) were right-handed. If you bat right-handed, running counter-clockwise means you don't have to turn around when leaving the batter's box. So running in that direction was just easier for most batters.
That's all I can think of...I'm curious to know the real explanation.

With the majority of batters hitting right handed from the left side of home plate. They actually have an advantage running a shorter distance to the base if they ran counter clockwise to where first is. This would give the majority of right handed hitters and advantage that presenlty the smaller number of left handed hitters have

likely because maximum each individual is ideal-surpassed. The swing of a suitable surpassed persson makes the organic tendency to run in the course of the right, which may be in a counterclockwise course. this is only a raffle. yet another probability is to reproduction horse racing tracks, which run counterclockwise in usa of america. it really is because the Colonies wanted to do each little thing they could opposite of how issues were finished in England, the position race horses run in a clockwise course (or a minimum of they did in Colonial cases). back, only a raffle.

Thats an odd question...ummmmmm
There's no advantage, if you run clockwise and go to third base first, then you're out.

Most batters are right-handed; the ball would normally be hit away from first base.
