People are becoming more aware of it at least. I live in West Virginia, and its the "fattest" state. I don't see it getting much better.

I suppose fat Americans feel shame, theres no reason for the nation to feel so.I honestly think there is some-thing put in processed food that is addictive,it,s not the food itself that people are addicted to but an ingredient.I saw fat people on tv crying because they could not stop eating, knowing it was going to kill them,no-one is that greedy. Is there an ingredient or combination of same common to processed food? That could be the answer.

I don't feel ashamed that America is considered a fat nation, but I am ashamed of the fact that America has access to so much food, and yet people within our own country are still hungry. And while thin isn't necessarily equivalent to one who is fit, I am ashamed that there are so many unhealthy people within the U.S..

No, while we may not like being a fat nation, we are not ashamed. We are also not proud of it.

It is currently getting worse. But I am doing my own part to make it better, both for myself and others.

this is america, no such thing as being embarassed about being the fattest nation. it only matters when you call someone fat to their face and then they sue you for harassment. and no, it's getting worse everyday. even though you see low carb meals and healthier selection, people will continue eating the way they until they either have a heart attack or die. america, unlike many other countries, have TOO much food. so much we don't know what to do with it except eat it.

If they do feel bad, a big greasy cheeseburger and a heaping plate of onions rings washed down with cherry pie and a milkshake will make them feel better. Ouch...did I say that out loud?

Who knows what someone else feels about themselves. Some people work faithfully on what they eat and exercise and others are trying to enjoy life and the abundance of foods available to us. unfortunately most of the foods we choose to eat are fattening and unhealthy for us.

That would require us to admit we're fat. I know it, but most of the overweight people are in denial. Denial = the American Way.
