MusicMatch is one of the programs that I uninstalled, but I think that the music is still on the hard drive, not sure. The computer runs OK until I open up multiple windows, about 4 or more. This really slows the computer down and makes it impossible to use! HELP!!!

You need to regularly empty the temporary internet files. And try running spybot and adaware.

The obvious answer would be to not open so many windows. Have you tried running a virus scan or defragmenting your computer (start, all programs, accessories, system tools, disk defragmenter)? You can test your theory about the songs by picking a song and running a search for its title. If your computer is over a few years old, it may be time to wipe the hard drive and re-install everything. Just make sure you save anything important to a disk.

Best thing is probably to reinstall Windows, and start from scratch. This normally brings your PC back to a good speed. Obviously you'd lose some files unless you backed them etc. If you didn't reinstall, then removing all programs you don't need, clearing out the registry etc. Or a defrag (in system tools) might help.

If the PC has always slowish under pressure, add more RAM (memory) if you can.

Have a look to see what programs are running in the background, and in the system tray. Preventing these from auto-starting up will help.

Try defragging your hard drive. As for music match, go to "Drive c","program files", "musicmatch" and delete all the files there. The defragging should do the trick though. Hope this helps!

There is no universal fix-it for computers. Your only real chance of genuinely fixing your computer would be to call a technician or something. One thing on the Internet will not solve all your problems, and since we don't have your computer here to know how you messed it up...

find the folder where the music was kept (my documents/your name/shared music) or type in the name of one of the songs into search and just see where it is located.

then delete the folder and/or files.

make sure to empty the recycle bin, clean cookies, defragment (especially after uninstalling multiple programs), etc.

There are many things that could cause these problems, such as needing to defrag, lack of or slow memory, spy-ware, registry errors. Start with the easy stuff and work your way up . . .

Increase the RAM also put your actual music on an external hard drive. Lacie is a good vendor.
