Hi. I'm a coin dealer in the Midwest and here's the CORRECT answer. Your 1890 Indian Cent, although a common date among Indians, can have value depending on its condition...anywhere from around $2(well used- most fall into this category) to as much as $300 (for an essentially perfect piece, full luster, no wear, as struck).
My suggestion would be to take it to a local coin shop or dealer...he can tell you what the real value is going to be, based on the current market. Whatever you do, DON'T try to clean or polish the coin; you will reduce, if not ruin its value.

Hope this info helped.

RE:
Is an 1890 Indian Head Penny worth anything?

It depends on the condition of the coin - if it has a lot of fading it may not be worth much. Best to check with your local Coin or Numismatic Club or a local Coin Collectors Outlet Store. Don't dream of Yatch and cruises just yet - but if you get $1.00 for it then you just made 99% profit. What an ROI, eh! But Indian Head pennies are very rare nowadays.

Depending on it's quality it may be very valuable. I've seen prices from $3.00 to hundreds. It is very important when searching for your values, that you denote what condition coins are in.
