Yes, in all areas. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. I don't remember who originally said that but it has a lot of truth in it. Educating someone on Alcohol, drugs, std, or whatever it may be will in the long run allow someone to make better decisions, and fewer mistakes.
Interventions often fail because those being intervened upon are usually not ready to stop doing what they have done already to warrant it. It has to be something they want to do to be able to stop.

Yes. There is a reason that the saying is an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of intervention and not the other way around.

Prevention ed is easier to do than intervention, but in the case that prevention is neglected, intervention is just as necessary.
