When Bono gave the commencement address at Harvard a few years ago! OK, so, I wasn't there in person (it was such a draw that people were selling tickets on ebay), but I did watch the video (over and over...). He was not only humorous but wonderfully relevant, real, and inspiring.

It was an older man that attended my college. (I don't remember his name.) I have been to about a dozen graduations and this is the only speaker I listened to the whole way through. His speech was titled "This is the Monday of your lives". It was a metaphor about being the beginning of everything, and not to just wish for the weekend to come because it will be here and over before you know it. He was funny and sincere and almost brought a tear to my eye.
I also had the privilege of hearing George W. Bush speak at my sister's master's commencement at SFA. He was the governor of Texas back then. His speech was so lousy. I wasn't paying attention until he started mispronouncing and making up words in his usual way. I looked up and asked my dad, "Who is this moron?"

So this isn't the answer you want....but the WORST speaker I've ever heard was Chris Matthew's (of TVs Hardball on MSNBC or whatever channel) wife. All she did was brag about her children working in Africa, talk about 9/11 and the Duke rape scandal.
Way to be positive about the future.
