Best way is to use this stuff called approach. get it at www.approachit.net It's water-based and it's safe on leather and there are no harsh chemicals so you can breath around it. I've used it in my car a lot if I have food on the road or had my golden retriever in the car for a trip to the vet.

Spray it until the odor goes away and it shouldn't ever come back.

Good luck!

I have leather cleaning stuff for saddles at my house. I believe it might be near you. Plus, we don't have Febreeze here, do we?
