So, I am one of those unfortunate people who never learned to whistle. I'm the one hollerin' at my friends down the store isle instead of whistling at them. I would really like to learn, but nothing I have tried so far is helping...... Do you have any helpful/detailed tips on how to successfully whistle? Thanks....

Hmm...and just a word to people....if you are going to leave a website for someone on here, make sure you check out the site beforehand. This is in reference to the 'whistletutor.com' tip that someone gave me, which is in reference to PLAYING a whistle thingy, not the 'blowing air through your lips' whistle....

Don't worry about it. There are many different ways to learn, but there are some superstitions attached to whistling, especially backstage at a theatre being bad luck. So don't worry about it. Some people can whistle others can't it is no big deal.

when i was little i had no clue how so i took matters into my own hands and learned by myself. what i do is watch somebody whistle. try putting your lips the same way they do and then here comes the hard part. i can whistle both ways. blowing out or sucking in. i prefere sucking in because that's the way i learned. you just simply put your lips in the right position and blow out or sucking in! happy whistling!

wet your lips and if they dry wet them again, now make a little o with your mouth and softly blow, like barely any air coming from you at all, you have to move the o bigger or smaller untill you hear a whistle.

Pretend you're blowing bubbles (the soap kind little kids blow), but press your lips together a lot tighter. Keep your tongue down. Also try the sources I listed. Good luck!

In the words of a famous actress, "Just put your lips together & blow", practise makes perfect.
Good Luck.

Make sure the tip of your tongue is pressed against the inside of your lower lip.
