I have an HP printer that has been sitting in my office for quite some time now. I tried an HP recycling program that I found in a pamphlette at Starbucks, but it seems that I have to PAY to use this service. Can anybody tell me the proper way to throw away this printer? My office is in Midtown Manhattan and I'd like to get rid of it ASAP. Thank you very much!

Well before you recycle it maybe you should try to get someone to (re)use it. Start with eBay then if you don't get any bids, maybe you should give it to a local charity.

Most businesses like Best Buy would have a way for you to discard an old printer. Where ever you buy a new one might have a way to discard old ones. Or you can always just drop it off at a landfill/dump.

Contact the local sanitation department and they can tell you where to go or how to make arrangements for pick up. If it still works, donate it to a school or library or something like that.

Whatever you do, don't just throw it away.
