Bill Gates and his wife are helping the poorest of countries and he may feel like the mothers and children in America have a better advantage than those in other countries.

Bill Gates has economically terrorized this country for YEARS now, by wiping out large sectors of the more creative Internet programming industry with his abusive strangle-hold monopolistic practices controlling the market. For this he SHOULD have guilt pangs that result in contributing the money, but unfortunately there is NOTHING he CAN NOW do to *buy back* the YEARS we are now BEHIND due to his crushing the work of other, MUCH more functional and creative software programmers.

As a lot of people already know from personal experience, sometimes throwing money around can just never fix the harm one abuser can do.

They have. Take time to visit their website and read about some of the many people they have helped.

My question to you is, why do "single mothers" think they deserve more than others? You obviously can't hold down a marriage. Instead of always expecting a handout, why don't you try to improve your skills or education so that you can become independent? Do you realize that no matter how hard they may try, your kids will eventually emulate and be like you? Is this the life you want for them?

You get what you put into life.

Why don't you give your money away to EVERY person who asks? The Gates' are doing excellent things with their money, probably being more generous, relatively, with their money than you are with yours. However, people seem to always look at the Gates' fortune, and wonder why they would keep any of it. They cannot give to everyone. This, in my opinion, is a very silly question!

1) First and foremost, it's their money to do with as they see fit. Once you have several billion dollars to your name, you can distribute it as you think best.

2) Highly publicized stories of people abusing the American welfare system would likely stymy anybody thinking of making a serious donation to any such program here.

3) Somewhat related to 2), I suspect that Gates has more control over what his money does when he spends it overseas; there is likely less "red tape" and thus he can focus on achieving objectives rather than appeasing bureaucracy.

It is better publicity to help out Third World kids. Besides there are hundreds of programs, charities and aid organizations in the U.S. already, so Mr Gates would just be "one of many" here instead of being unique elsewhere.

He does. By giving money to improve the education of young people he is improving their life over the long term by giving them tools to go out and provide a better life for their families instead of running out on their kids and creating more single parent households. It isn't just women who are in this position.

In third world countries, not only do mothers have little access to prenatal and pediatric care, but they lack basic items. Not only is there no WIC program in underdeveloped countries, there is often no way to acquire a simple mosquito net that would prevent being infected by malaria.

Single mothers in the US have LOTS of access to public programs that will provide vaccinations and other necessities to their children.

Bill and family are looking at things globally. We are all one.

Humans are dieing daily from lack of cures that sit on our shelves in the USA.

Plus if you apply for help you may be surprised because he does help this country in many ways.

He and the second richest man in the world agree on this!

Save our babys of the world, it sets great examples and eventually the rest of the world will comply. Evolution you know.

blessed be...

That is soooo true. Everyone wants to focus on the third world and here in U.S. people are still poor. It sucks but that is the way life goes
