How about a nice necklace or bracelet with a pendant representing something she really likes?

Well, something that I did once for a friend, and she kept it close to her till the day she died was a little container, that had small things in. The items I put in were to remind her of the things we did, and the things we wanted to do, of course some of them we never had a chance to get to but she looked in that box everyday and sometimes added her own little thing to it. It was a small round tin box, painted with her favorite colors and picture on it. I actually have the box today, and still look at it with fond memories, and sad ones of her passing. But it was very sentimental to both of us. I put silly things in, like a receipt of the first meal we had together, a charm we picked up on the beach the one day, a bottle cap of a coke we shared, silly things, but each item had a little story behind it....

This is probably going to be her senior year in high school, right? A lot of great memories will be made. Why don't you give her a scrapbook? You can start her off with a few pages that you make, especially with pictures of you and her together. Get her parents to help you gather other pictures and miscellaneous stuff to decorate it with.

If she likes a cartoon or any animated character, give her something like a collectible of her favorite character. For example if she likes The Simpsons give her a Simpson toy she had never seen before in any store.

get a nice blank book, maybe her favorite color on the outside. make a scrapbook of pictures of you and her through the years in it. You can get photo-safe stickers and glue, and other scrapbooking stuff, at most craft stores. hand write a memory of each picture near the certain picture. good luck!

a matching necklace, earings, and braclet set in her favorite color. It doesn't have to say "best friend" she'll always remember who gave it to her. And honestly, I've had jewelry that was pretty much cheap beads, but since a good friend gave it to me umpteen years ago, I always have treasured it.

A charm bracelet. And a first charm for it that symbolizes something about your friendship or something she is interested in. Then every year, you can always get her a charm to add to it.
