I was there at Christmas. It's better in the summer, obviously, but Christmas was nice. However, you'll want to find a heated hotel. I froze my butt off. There weren't very many people there and a lot of places weren't open, but it certainly wasn't shut down. The ferry took me there and brought me back, though on the way there I got quite sea sick and on the way back I was stuck in the harbor at Santorini for 24 hours because of a storm. Santorini is beautiful all year long, and the Caldera is there to be admired no matter when you go. The afternoons were warm during my Christmas stay, and it never got too cold except in my damp hotel room at night.

No, Santorini is a real summer island - it won't be worth for christmas and there won't be too much hotels to book then neither. I would suggest June or September for Santorini.

Hi there,
I've lived several years in Santorini and definately is not the best time to go there since it's mostly a summer island.
I do not say it's not nice but it's not the best time to the year to visit it. If you finally deside to go i can answer what ever question's you may have

Hello DGirl!
Well, what are you planning and expecting to get from your vacation?
Based on that we can assist you! Thera (Santorini) is mostly visited in the summer time (mostly from April to October!)
If you want to live on a quite Greek island, far from busy towns and not visitors/ tourists, then Christmas is fine on all islands of the Aegean (Thera is among the nicest islands worldwide!) Maybe in Christmas, some islands might have many visitors, Thera could be one, Myconos, another!
Enjoy!
