You can find a very good brushkiller at most of your local hardware stores and it's very effective controlling blackberries, poison ivy, poison oak, etc. Just look closely at the labels and try to find the active ingredient called: TRICLOPYR, and follow the directions.

With 10-acres of blackberries, you might want to consider renting or purchasing a high-pressure sprayer. There are some that can fit on the back of a pickup and holds about 25-gallons of water.

You might also consider calling one of the agricultural supply dealers in your area that sell herbicides/pesticides in larger quantities...since you have such a large area to treat. It would definitely save you some money too! They can also provide you with adequate information to mix the TRICLOPYR with a product that will help aid in the spray mixture so it will adhere to the leaves much better.

Good Luck!

Where are you located? In Oregon?

Digging them up is gonna be a huge project. Using chemicals is much worse than letting them grow.

I love blackberries. Keep em. Put a sign by your house that reads "pick your own blackberries".

Short of digging up the whole pasture there isn't much. Roundup doesn't even kill them. We got infested with them at a house I owned, my mom thought they would be good to line a fence with, and we ended up digging up the whole backyard to get rid of them. Sorry this doesn't help more.

The answer is not how to get rid of them but why would you want to get rid of them. When they come ripe pick them and sell them or allow people to come in and charge them to pick them. They are worth a fortune!!!
