because you usually get what you pay for with a guitar...for instance, a Gibson Les Paul usually retails around $1,400.00.
The Les Paul is a great high quality guitar.
Then there are the off brand, low price, low quality guitars that dont sound as good, dont play as easy, and just aren't good guitars.
I can find a nice Fender acoustic for $350, it plays good, sounds nice, and is a relatively good guitar. I can also find an off-brand acoustic for $100. It doesn't play as good, does't sound as good, and is lower quality.
The moral of the story: higher price=usually better guitar; lower price (not on sale lower, but lower MSRP)=usually lower quality guitar

well, a quality guitar costs a good bit of money to produce, plus they have to make a profit.......and mostly because they know people will still buy them despite the price....but sometimes you can get a good price....i found a 7-string Fender Strat Squier for $250, brand new (and it's a light, sparkly kind of silvery purple, which is my fave color!)

Well, many of th ehigh end ones are hand made from very expensive woods like mahogony. Luthiers are not as plentifull. You get what you pay for.
