I think that it is perfectly normal to feel this way. Actually most kids can't wait to grow up. Most adults say "Youth is wasted on the young" At least you appreciate being at this stage, and hopefully make the most out of it. But I won't lie, it sometimes sucks in the grown-up world that's why a lot of adults including me, are afraid. Too many responsibilities. So be a kid while you still are.

You have no choice - life just pushes you through - you are on the escalator right now - just wait for the rocket to take off!! It goes by so fast you forget to stop and smell the dirty diapers. The best thing about growing up though is getting your kid through the best years... that is the pay off.

It will pass, trust me. A time will come when you would never go back to 14-16, if you could. The best is yet to come. Do you fear becoming independent? Look at it this way. You say these are the best years......................that you have known up to now. It continues and progresses in the exact same way.
You have to wait.
