Sometimes the water doesn't break until you deliver. But water breaking, bleeding or contractions in 8 minute intervals over the course of an hour mean you need to go in. I only know because my wife just gave birth to our second so it is all still fresh in my mind.

Hi! I've been blessed as a mommy x2. There are a few signs and here is what I had.!1) a lower dull sqeezy back pain that just will not go away no matter how ya sit, stand or lay.2)A slightly colored vaginal discharge(bit red/brown) and a lil slimy. This is the 1st stage of the mucus plug coming undone and then your water may break.3) when the pains are 3-5 minutes apart for at least an hour and are consistent. If the pains let up for a period of time and start again this may be false labor. Hope this helps. And remember to walk during these pains, it does help. gl

I have two kids of my own and I wish someone would have told me what going into labor feels like. Contractions are like menstral cramps and as they get closer together the become a lot harder to tolerate. If this is your first baby you won't really feel the first contractions, but they might make you feel a little uncomfortable. Another sign of going into labor is if your water has broken. It is kinda like if you wet your pants. It's not a lot of fluid, but if it does break you will know when you move around because it will slowly start to leak. If this happens GO TO THE HOSPITAL IMMEADIATLY! Another is if you have a bloody show. That is the mucus plug that plugs up the cervix comes out. It looks like snot. It can be a little slimey and may have some bloody in it brown light red in color. That means that your cervix has dialated. Once you have gotten your contractions though you have reached the labor stage and you want to time your contractions. 1) how long they are lasting 2) how far apart they are. This will help when you go to the hospital you can let them know this information. I hope this helped.

My sign of labor was a burst of energy.

I was defrosting everything in the refrigerator and cleaning it.

My water broke. I did not have any pain till later on.

My water had to be broke on both my kids, it leak alittle on my 1st one while i was on my way to the hospital. Mine started with contractions about 10 minutes apart and slowly got closer until about 5 minutes apart and then we headed to the hospital. 1st child labor started at 3:30pm and we got to the hospital at 7 or so and I had her at 10:33pm(on her due date)

Call your OB/GYN or midwife to be sure, but the big signs are your water breaking, contractions occurring every 5 minutes or less, and contractions so strong you have to stop talking when they happen.

wather breaks, contractions every 5 minutes for an hour.

At that point, you'll be wanting to get to a hospital.
