I totally agree with you. But I also think that it is not God who is doing this but MAN is doing these horrible things. We're given free will to make our choices in life. Man chose war.

It means life or death to me and my family. Believe it or not there are many religions that encourage their young people to "serve their country" and they know the bible. Yet that doesn't stop them. I can proudly say that I do not belong in that group, and unfortunately that is where many "ifs" come in.
If more people read all the commandments and took them to heart, and relied on the bible and looked toward God for help and IF it didn't cost SO much to go to college, and if some of the people going to war didnt need the money the military offer them... Yes, I know some people just go to break that commandment because it is in their heads that America has to be part of the war and some of them like the thought of killing the enemy.
But I do know some of the young men ( that are church goers) that have joined the military go for the money for college and believe they aren't going to be sent to war, as for the others, something in their brains are just messed up, God didn't mean for us to kill one another, that is were the short circuit comes in. One day very soon people will realize this.

you seem very confused on a bunch of levels...As rules to live by the commandments make sense, at the good idea level, war is obviously not always a good thing, though it can be WW2 is a good example of that, I am not sure what you mean by "rulers"' I have no ruler...other than the one in my desk... I am a free adult with the ability to think for myself. As a voter in a democratic society, I let my elected officals know what I want as part of the electorate. This is my responsibility in a democratic system. If they do not listen, I vote for someone else. What the hell does religion have to do with it?

The Ten Commandments mean different things to different people. In the case of a war, some believe "an eye for an eye". It may not really be the "belief" itself, but the only way people see an end to cruelty and suffering of other people in other lands that cannot help themselves. All we can do is pray for our troops and pray for our President, (whom I do not agree with, myself) can be strong enough to try to do the right thing. It has to be a very hard job to know you are sending someones loved ones off and they may not return.

The world is not black or white. Each instances have to be explored fully. What if the ruler was sending people to war as a defense. Although I do not support the war we are in and was originally born in a different country where violence was prominent, it doesn't mean that I would not defend my family for example. Morel cues are only valid to the person that keeps them and are very personal. What something means to me might not necessarily mean the same to you.

This whole war thing is not a doing of god. God made the ten commandment so that his people will follow them. But their are those who have a handshake with the devil who don't follow the commandments and then their are those who think they are doing gods work by killing evil..war is just a political award that rulers are trying to achieve

We shouldn't have war. It would be so nice to have peace every where. I always thought in the real world we could make life with the green (money). If everyone did their job, helping each other out all over the world, we would not need it. Think about it. Every company supply every thing they make. Every family would have a home, a vehicle, food, all the things needed for life. War is just to far. Our children are learning absolutely nothing. We are all just killing ourselves not the atmosphere!!!

As a devout Muslim and an ardent upholder of Islam (forget what you've been told to believe about Muslims and Islam and befriend a few Muslims) I do believe that the Ten Commandments provides the basic laws by which all humans would benefit if they were adhered to. Philosophers have asked if morality can be legislated, and evidence of that is embodied in "Thou shall not steal...commit murder..." et. alia. The same message as a guidance for leading a moral life and to be as beneficial to others as one can is repeated in every divine revelation, including the Hebrew Scriptures, the Gospels, and the Quran. We only need to embrace and follow them.

God does tell His people to fight many times in the Bible, therefore, war cannot be a bad thing because obviously God sees it as necessary. And as far as the Ten
Commandments are concerned they are the basis of our God given road map for building our character and living.
And as far as losing a family member is concerned, I currently have a son who recently enlisted in the Army and although my initial response was shock and fear because I don't want my son to be killed in a war. I must say that after praying about it I had to realize that God has a plan for his life just like He does for me. He's in God's hands and whatever that means for him so be it.

I live by them and so should everyone. War is killing, true, but it is essential to keep the bullies from taking over. It is the same as self-defense. As far as I know, the people who are in the war are still volunteers , not drafted in the U.S. The war is to keep us free from terrorists. I also believe in the death penalty for serial killers, rapists, etc. because I think they can't be trusted NOT to strike again, even when they are in prison. I think we need to defend ourselves against the enemy whoever they may be. If I lost a member of my family in the war, of course, I'd feel devastated, but if he/she chose to go, that would have been their sacrifice to someone's freedom. I'd still consider them a hero.

I'm sorry you're so angry. Here's what the commandments actually say from Exodus 20:
1. And God spoke all these words:
2 "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
3 "You shall have no other gods before [a] me.
4 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand {generations} of those who love me and keep my commandments.
7 "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
8 "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
12 "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
13 "You shall not murder.
14 "You shall not commit adultery.
15 "You shall not steal.
16 "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
17 "You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor."
I don't know of anyone except Jesus that was able to live this life perfectly. That's why He came. To give us forgiveness for breaking the commandments. His birth was foretold hundreds of years before He came with great accuracy.
I think living by the Greatest Commandment is the best way to navigate our lives from Matthew 22:
The Greatest Commandment
34Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[b] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[c] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
Try living that way. You'll be less inclined to be angry. As for war, no one likes it and no one has ever found a way to stop it. I pray for the men and women that defend our country and I pray that you find peace.
