Marie Antoinette was the wife of King Louis XVI of France. He was the king when the French Revolution broke out in 1789. By 1793, he had been beheaded and so was she after declaring that starving peasants should "eat cake". Talk about being out of touch with reality!

She was married to the guy on the Quaker Oats box. I think she was beheaded by a Scotsman in 18th Century France.

She said "let them eat cake!" She was beheaded during the French Revolution. Oddly there was a place prepared for her to come in northeast Pennsylvania called French Azilum. She never made it there, though thanks to the guillotine. Oh, correct spelling is Marie Antoinette.
