i'm living with my boyfriend right now. I agree that it is a good experience.
and don't believe in any of that "oh if you live together you'll have a higher chance of getting divorced" It's just NOT true!
and that "Why buy the cow when you can have the Milk for free !!"" statement is SO OUTDATED and EXTREMELY sexist!
COMMUNiCATiON is KEY in any relationship! That's all that matters really! I say go for it!

I don't think it's a good idea. I suppose if the wedding is imminent and your lease ran out or something like that it might be OK, but why then would he ever want to marry you or vice versa?
Also, if you just live together there's always an easy out as one can just pack up one's baggage and depart stage left. It's more difficult to leave if there's all the legal stuff to untangle like when you're married. Not that I advocate divorce or going into a marriage thinking that if it doesn't work to get a divorce.
Cohabitators don't have as many rights as spouces either, or so I've been informed.
And if you do live together for years, then why bother getting married at all. It seems sort of pointless to go through all the whoopla.

Well this is what I think.... I think living together before you are married is wonderful, because You get to see exactly what you are gettting into. But, some people hide their real feelings til they are married. So sometimes It is better to not get married and live together than it is to get married. I also would like to add that If u can afford to get married within the 1st 3-5 years you two are together and you still aren't married then it is probably better off not married. Because that piece of paper changes most people when they get it.... But any ways wish u luck.

Good question! I think it's a great idea. After all marriage is a legally binding contract that is not easy to get out of if you change your mind. Nobody needs a piece of paper to prove their love. Some would say you're living in sin, but who in this world isn't living in sin on some level? If marriage equated commitment then we wouldn't have a 50% divorce rate here in the USA. Chaz

I agree. I thinkit helps you to realize the negative parts of your partner, and if you can live with them. I think its better than rushing into marriage and not being able to handle those things, and having to go through a divorce. I have lived with my bf for the last year. We have no plan to marry for another few years, as we are both very young.

I think it's a good idea, know what you are getting into. Also, given the number of couples who can not get legally married in the US it going to happen.

I htink it's a good idea, except.... Generally, people who live together before getting married are more likely to get divorced than people who don't.
