I do. I like to eat. I won't be able to afford to eat if the farmers in this country have to pay minimum wage, provide benefits and a 40 hour work week. If you think inflation is bad now, then deport all those illegals, you ain't seen nuthin yet. Unless you are a complete fool and think that fruit and vegetables grow on the supermarket shelves then you should know that when a crop is ready for harvest, nobody get the weekend off and its 12 to16 hour days for most. If you are willing to work those kind of hours for $20 a day then go for it. And If you think that doesn't apply to meat, then you are even more stupid than I gave you credit for.

There are an estimated 12-20 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. To ship back that many people is logistically impossible. I think they should be screened, if that is even possible, and those with criminal records should be sent back. Not only is it physically impossible to uproot that many people, but even if we could do it we would cause even more problems for our neighbor to the south. I don't agree with their policies towards the poorest segment of their population, but there is a reason why those folks are here. Mexico cannot offer them living wages, and it would be that much worse if they were sent back for them and us. Most of these people are solid(can't say citizens) members of our society. They give as much as they take.

I know its not popular but I think the illegal immigrants need to go back to thier countries. Many simply take advantage of the benefits given to American citizens without ever paying taxes. We have enough money problems without supporting illegals. There are too many citizens abusing the system. I doubt Vincente Fox would be thrilled about hundreds of thousands of illegal US citizens flooding his borders.

Normally I would be liberal on most issues, but on this one I'm not. They came here illegally so they don't deserve to be here, period. It's unfair to everybody else, because they don't pay taxes, allowing them free schooling, health care, etc. If you can't see my point of view, think about the situation in reverse. How would they like it if a bunch of us moved to Mexico illegally, didn't pay their taxes, and went to their schools, hospitals, etc. for free? I'm sure they would be ready to kick us out, too! I mean I think everybody has a right to immigrate, but take the time and patience to do it legally. Come here, pay taxes, get a job, contribute to society, and learn the language. We would do the same if we moved to a foreign country.

first off, they have to deserve to stay in the country meaning in my opinion there should be a criminal record check and based on that they are either to stay or go.
i know most of illegal immigrants are hard working folks who are trying to make a living and support their families.
they should be given that chance to start contributing to the society by paying their taxes.
and i think that most of'em are willing to do so. plus if they dont they will be tracked down and prosecuted.
atleast the government will know where they are instead of being outthere with no record at all.

I think they should all get a chance. Our great relatives were all immigrants at one time and not all got here legally (even though every one seems to think that)...so as long as they obide by the rules and take the necassary steps to get citizenship then I think they deserve to stay. And contrary to what everyone thinks...Not all people from other countries want to live in the U.S...alot of people are happy in their own countries.

I have read that every US citizen would make on average $4 an hour more if they all left today. So no, it keeps our poorest citizens at the bottom. We should adopt Mexico's policies along its southern borders, double fences, troops, and harsh penalties. Remember the congress just gave themselves a cost of living increase of $15 an hour.

'Allowed' ???? - They are illegal because the did not wait for anyone to 'allow' them to come here, they simply came here, often at great risk to their own selves.
I would like Illegals to go away, and come here legally, like many others, but offcourse, they arnt going to listen to me, or you, are they?
So, practical reality - they are here for good, and lets not make criminals out of them (as some republicans want to). Our jails are already full, and there's no point in picking someone who's trying to make a living, off the streets, and incarcerating them in jails - more expensive to taxpayers, morally wrong, and finally, will help convert an illegal into a real criminal (a stint in jail will teach him crime for sure).
So, tighten borders, if possible, bu think of ways to make those who are already here (and not a criminal), a permanent resident.

No they shouldn't. It is just not fair for people like me who waited 18+ years to get here in America. My brother is still in the Philippines waiting for his petition while the Mexicans just cross the border illegally and they become citizens? Those people should fall in line.

I have mixed feelings about that. Some get jobs and work and ARE helpful to society, but some are not. I'm not excusing it or anything, but lots of them are very good people. By the way, they may plan to become legal citizens further down the road, but cannot afford lots of things that are put on legal citizens shoulders.
