I think it's as trashy as the old hip and ankle braclet and tattoos.

This is a self-destructive act. It is designed to destroy a work of God's creation. I have a tattoo. This is on my right shoulder and affirms my nation that I served in the USAF. This act is not the same as piercings.

That's a pretty generalized statement. I don't think you can group everyone together like that and have it be even remotely true.

I think everyone has their own ideas of what is sexy. I happen to think the body in its natural state looks best (I don't even have my ears pierced) but I know lots of people love tattoos/piercings and many of my friends have them. They certainly get alot of attention from men and from women.

I also think it makes a great icebreaker... I know I've asked many people about their body art and they are often quiet people who wouldn't normally know how to strike up a conversation so the body art makes the first step in communication easier.

Sometimes when a girl gets a piercing she is just looking for some way of proving that she is fun and daring. She wants to say "Hey look at me, I'm a tough chick cuz I can deal with pain".

Other women just get them because their friends did it, and they had to do it too.

Just like trendy clothes and funky hairdos, those sort of embellishments say alot of different things about a person and they only way to find out why they did it is to ask them yourself.

Piercing of the body has been around along time. This isn't some new fade that some 13 year old girl has created.

The good news is if you don't like it, try hard not to look at it and don't associate with those who enjoy the 'body art' thing.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, just like everyone is entitled to place 'art' on their body. I will personally get extremely upset if my daughter (who is on the way in one month to be born) grows up and gets a bellybutton thingie before she is 18. But I would love for my wife to get one right now:P lol so i guess my feelings on it are twisted sideways.

Good luck with ignoring the piercing the way our society is going. . . it doesn't look good for ya. Skimpier clothes, more piercing, earlier sexual contact. .. . *frowns* Things are changing.

I got my belly button pierced because I liked it. I wasn't trying to please anyone but myself. No other human had any occasion to see it except my boyfriend and anybody who saw me at the beach. When I got it done it was rush, it didn't hurt, it felt good. I immediately wanted to get another piercing. Well, I haven't, and I eventually allowed all of my piercings to grow back, I just didn't have the time to maintain them, but I don't regret getting them done. They were good for me at the time that I had them. If you don't like them, that is totally your right. Date some chick that doesn't have them. But don't assume that just because someone is pierced or tattooed that they are trashy. That is an unfair generalization.

Don't be so stupid, women can do what they want to with their bodies. Besides, lots of men have piercings too. As a woman who has both piercings and tattoos I think you're full of s***.

I personally dont have anythin pierced but my ears. I do think its kinda trashy also and on the tacky side. I guess they do it to make them feel hot or somethin

It is only trashy if it is flashed so everyone can see. So, I guess, it would be for attention.. They are not confident enough with the way they look so they have to do something to give themselves a boost....:)

Because some people probably DO think its sexy, just because you don't doesn't mean everyone thinks that. People have different tastes. AND ALSO they may not get it because they think its sexy, maybe they just like it.

Because they are enlightened enough to love their bodies and not care what stupid boys think about them!

Grow up, kiddo, and realize that your ideas don't mean everyone else thinks like that.
