if i can't respect banks in america, then what can i respect?

I am sure that many people share your attitude about financial institutions. I, for one, can relate.

However, there are many other groups of people and businesses that are worthy of our respect.

If you need a glimmer of hope about the world around you, think about charities, people who adopt unwanted children, professionals who volunteers their time to help out in their communities and companies who make a commitment to have positive business ethics.

What a terrible thing to measure by. Only in the last 10 years or so have banks been developing in sort of reputation as trustworthy. Banks and bankers have always been considered sinister. Now it seems that loan sharks are taking the ropes an inadvertently hiding the banks' reputations. Until 2 years ago, I didn't use a bank. And right about 2 years ago was when I started having money problems....go figure. I spend more because they allow me to go over $0. I realize it takes some discipline. But apparently someone in the bank can sell your information and make alot of money. It's not all that uncommon-- it just happened to my best friend. Someone was withdrawing money at an ATM from her account, except they were in Germany. And the bank, which is the company that the leaker worked for, hold's no responsibility whatsoever to pay you for that. They usually do, but out of niceness.

What can you trust? Yourself, if even that. You can trust noone, unless they've earned your trust.
