(By media hoax I'm referring to the horoscopes in the magazines and newspapers etc. who use astrology to make money.)

First of all, nothing in the media is true because the FTC is corrupt (Yahoo's search engine will help you learn more about that). There is truth in astrology, but people misuse it.

A media hoax? Astrology has been around for eons, way before there was a such thing as the media. Maybe you had a different point?

Astrology is a science. My question is how can it be a media hoax.

Observing the astros helped the ancient civilizations predict good crop seasons, create calendars that to this day are acurrate, maps amongst other beneficial contributions to contemporary civilization.

I do not believe in astrology. I find that my horoscope (whether by the Roman calendar or the Chinese calendar) is always wrong.

Hoax. Celestial objects are too far away to affect us here in any way except our view of the night sky.... except the moon and sun which affect our tides.
