I am looking into the possiblility of moving to Japan, but two things are dangling in the air: I will obviously need to work, and I do not have a good mastery of the language. I know there are companies out there that hire non0native speakers, but I am hoping to get as many sources as I can to do research. My area of specialty is Finance

My g/f is Japanese so if I go there it won't be as a tourist, by then it will probably be as her husband. I know of a few of the teaching schools but I am hoping to utilize my degree.

Don't worry you'll find a job in Japan. Especially Tokyo.
Whether it's in your field or just teaching English at private class rooms.
The hardest thing to do is probably to get on a plane and go there.

The free magazine called Tokyo Classified helps alot.
So does Japan Times.
It would probably help to look for job openings in companies like JP Morgan / Morgan Stanley / Microsoft etc.

Foreign financial companies want many specialists even you are not Japanese.
However I wonder if they or Japan government give you working permit.

Because, probably you will enter as tourist into Japan.
You don't have registered address.
Financial company need any warranter of you( personal guarantor, Japanese maybe needed).

Find job in your country first, the company will help you to get Japanese working permit.
or come to Japan as language student first and get your address and find Japanese friends..
then you can find job in Japan with newspaper and job hunt web site.

Teaching English is the most common route -- starting off, it's common to go with one of Japan's big chains of English schools such as Nova, Geos, ECC, or Aeon.

There's also the JET Program, which puts English teachers into public schools. There's an age limit on that.

Google any of the above organizations and you should be off to a good start.
