Billions of dollars have already been spent to no avail. No one experiement has proved and concluded that there is a "gay gene," and no one ever will.

By the way, all of those who think that I have no experience with this, and that I'm just spouting from no experience with this issue, you should know that my father CHOSE a homosexual lifestyle after he had 6 children with my mother.

Not to get to personal, but to squash any type of statement about my father already being gay, I'll explain this. He was molested when he was a child by his father and uncle. He learned how to deal with the shame and pain of this act by storing it inside and never talking about it. This, undoubtedly, led to prolonged phsycological effects that plagued him and eventually chose him to choose his lifestyle.

It's a tactical error for the gay community to talk about the gay gene. The "I can't help it, I have this gene" argument, even if true, tacitly concedes that there could be something wrong with being gay.
It doesn't matter whether being gay is a genetic compulsion or a whim, in a free country it's nobody's damned business.
I think the argument emerges from the subjective experience that they were attracted to the same sex from the day they hit puberty, and from the common sense argument that nobody would choose to be something which has been so vilely stigmatized unless there was some sort of compulsion.

I don't support the "gay" lifestyle, and I, myself am not gay...but I do support the scientific method, and adhere to it with the same zeal that a religious zealot adheres to their beliefs.
It is a scientific fact that all fetus's are conceived as female.
As the necessary hormones reach the fetus the fetus develops, physically, as the sex that was determined by the sperm upon conception.
Now here is the tricky part that some of you narrow minded pin-heads my have trouble following...so I'll type slowly for you sloped headed types.
It is a scientific fact that human male and female brains are different. These differences are subtle and almost impossible to notice.
It is a scientific fact that the fetus's brain develops last...(week 33 usually...and for those who have trouble with math...a fetus stays in the womb on average about 40 weeks...so you can see that the brain is developed quite late in the game.
Use the scientific fact links I have provided to support my statements.
OK, so why have I armed you with facts instead of religious rhetoric?
Here's why.
There is valid evidence that points to emotional trauma in the mother during the last trimester of pregnancy causing the fetus to develop with a female brain.
OK... I'll wait for those slow readers to catch up...for the rest of you, you may want to re-read that line again and perhaps check out this link:
http://brainmind.com/Homosexuality1.html
Here is how doctors think this happens...
The fetus is developing along nicely as a human male. Everything progresses nicely...
Then something happens between week 30 and week 35 that causes the mother to experience severe emotional trauma. War, strife, plague...whatever God's wrath inflicts upon his children...
this trauma causes an unusually high amount of estrogen to be produced by the adreanal glands. This hormone courses through the mother's blood stream...which is of course connected to the fetus's circulatory system through the umbilical cord (that's what becomes the belly button for those idiots in the audience)
This influx of female hormones into th fetus short-circuits the brain development and what should become a male brain, now finishes up development as a female brain...Now, when the fetus is popped out, the child grows up thinking that something is wrong with them...Essentially, as they get older, they display the classic feeling of a "woman trapped in a man's body" sensation.
It's really quite simple and if you have trouble understanding all this science (you religious types may not be all that familiar with science, so just pretend god invented science and that may help)
As to the statement that "god wouldn't create people to be homosexual? Well...how do you explain hermaphroditic children (that's children born with both sex organs...What kind of a mistake is this?
And to make matters worse, the attending physician at the time of the birth makes an assessment as to the dominant sex organ and arbitrarily makes the determination of sexual orientation...with no consideration of other physiological differences in the fetus...how does the doctor know that the child is male or female if it has both sex organs?
And don't think that this doesn't happen...
http://www.wormatlas.org/Postemblingonad_1979/discussion.html
So...instead of spouting religious garbage, use that atrophied organ between your ears and think for yourself for once and look at and understand the facts...
And remember...god isn't perfect...He created you, didn't he?

Billions of dollars?
-yikes-
more like millions.
I think that it is good that you can ask this question but having just come from Pride Weekend in Toronto, Canada I can safely say that those of us gay, straight, whatever had a great time and with over one million people partying there was not a single act of violence.
Maybe we should be searching for the aggressive gene which causes people to become unnecessarily upset with the issue.

I would ask this same question to gay people and if its ok to them to find the answer to this, its ok to me. As for me, we will never know until we try to find the truth.
There are those with the belief that being gay is a lifestyle choice, but if it was, why do so many men and women live lives of desperation "in the closet", choosing to torture themselves in a world of intolerance? Wouldn't you like to seek the truth on this issue?
It should also not have anything to do with money. Billions of unnecessary $$ are spent by the government everyday.
Do you believe being gay is a choice?

I guess the alternative would be to prove that "gay" is a behavior, and like all behaviors, it is learned.
And if it is learned, it can be un-learned with electroshock therapy, for example. Or let's go back to the days when psychologists diagnosed (that's right, diagnosed) "gay" as a mental disease.
If it is learned, then conservatives will enact laws to "protect" children from learning "deviant" behavior, or to protect children from being afflicted from this mental disease. Gay people will be locked up and persecuted.
Interestingly, animals tend to show homosexual behavior in roughly the same percentages that humans do: 6-8%.
Maybe here is a biological basis for homosexuality.

There is so much debate around the subject that it is impossible for anyone to drop it. While a 'Gay Gene' is extremely improbable, homosexuals usually say that they were simply 'born that way' and did not choose it. It is possible that many people who at one point enjoyed a heterosexual lifestyle and have since taken on a homosexual one are simply bisexual. There is no clear way to foresee who will become gay or bi.

So, I take it you are a geneticist? If not, then how the heck do you "know" that there is no gene? Do you even really understand what genes are, and how complicated it is to discover them? You are the one who need to "give it up"- you and your hateful so-called christian cults. It's amazing to me how much energy idiots like you put into being hateful against people who have nothing to do with you, and don't affect your life at all. What the heck do you care if someone is gay or not? It's not your life. Leave people alone! If there is a Hell- you miserable hypocrites will be the first to arrive!

Let's Get Real !!! Never say never and revise the"billions spent."
There are a few who are born gay. There are a few who elect to be gay. A few are driven to be gay. On top of all this is a spirit of perversion which abides over all of human sexuality. Neither homosexuals nor heterosexuals are free from this unless they are in Christ.
The same spirit that possesses one to be a homosexual is the same spirit that pimps on the Internet. The same spirit that ;pimps on the Internet is the same spirit that prostitutes the customers that use it. That same spirit is on the man who beats his wife and the wife who stays to be beaten again. That same spirit is on the pedophile priest, the money loving preacher, the thieving politician or the serial killer.

People need to do something to make their prejudices seem reasonable. If it makes them feel superior then let them have at it! My Dad raised 6 children and then came out of the closet. I have a nephew and neice that are gay as well. If it were in the Genes, we all would be gay in our family! Judge and you will be judged! Have a great day!
