Are there any poor people in Japan or Germany?

There are poor people everywhere, regardless of nationality. In West Germany, 3.7% of the population receives welfare, and in East Germany, 2.7% does. Compare this to the USA where (as of the last count in 2000) was only 2.4%. Also, according to the BBC, since the recent economic recession in Japan, poverty has risen considerably. The unemployment rate in Japan was at 4.3% as of 2005, but the actual poverty rate was unavailable on every site I checked.

I rather think the governments of Japan and Germany take care of their poor so they all have decent housing and food and clothes.

Germany has a pretty high unemployment rate, and I would think that Japan's rate can't be zero, so there are some there too.
