My mom went on a cruise with her friend last year without me. I'm still jealous. It sounded pretty nice! She went to Cancun, Honduras, Belize, and somewhere else.

If you don't mind flying, California is a great place during the summer. Depending on how much time you have (IE a week) you could get a hotel in somewhere like Auburn or Roseville (smaller town and city, respectively), and then drive to lake tahoe if you want to cool off, or one of the many beaches if you want to get some sun.

Also, San Francisco's a great place to vacation in and there are lots of things for kids and moms to do -- museums, beaches, Pier 39, and so on. Also, San Fran is filled with GREAT food. Also if you don't like the heat so much, San Fran is pretty cool all year round. (this week's forecast has highs in th elow 70's and lows in mid 50's -- pack a sweater!)

Try Destin, It's a more family oriented place with a few waterparks and it's more low key than the teenage atmosphere of Panama. Destin has a lot more to offer and it's right next door (about 35 minutes from Panama) I've been going to Destin for 10 years and it's grown up a lot. It's an awesome place and theres tons to do.

Chicago!! It has a ton of things to do, and the King Tut exhibit is at the Field Museum for a limited time, and it hasn't been in the U.S. since 1971!! They have Navy Pier, your daughter would love the rides and could "build a bear." A really cool new water feature downtown, where she can get all wet!! It's tons of fun. The Sears Tower, etc........

western north carolina. you can go to Cherokee, then do some gem mining at one of the gem mines nearby, linville caverns, visit bilmore estate (my 11 year old loved it); go to chimney rock, we have an arburetum, Pisgah forest has trails, over 200 wwaterfalls and sliding rock - which is just as it sounds, a rock you slide down into a pool of water!

It's pretty close, so you'd save gas $

It really depends how much you are wanting to spend. But, my mom and I went on a cruise together and it was so much fun.

You also have Disney World or Disneyland, even a Disney Cruise.

Plus, I'm sure there is a ton of things to do in your area to do. But it depends on how far you are willing to go, where you live and how much you want to spend.

What about Disneyworld? She is probably still young enough to have a great time, although it is pretty pricey. Taking her to DC to see all the history and monuments might be nice too.

Cancun, Mexico, is a really nice place, your daughter will enjoy the parks a lot and you too.
