I'm trying to memorize like 2000 high school/college standard words. Obviously, I'm not using all the words every day. Any more suggestions?

Memorizing vocabulary is difficult. Flash cards are good. Or relate the word to something that is easy to remember. Or use root words, root words are the best way to help.

1. memorize right after awake and before sleeping.
2. write down the vocab by handwriting instead of using computer.
3. memorize a group of vocab, say 20 words, a day and 20 words from yesterday. every week revise all the vocab memorized in that week.
4. you can turn the word into an object that has pronounciation (in your own language) similar to that of the word. then link the object to the word's meaning by making a story.

flash cards. since you have a bunch of them, you could group them in genres (that means categories... there's one!). You could remenber them in groups... and use acronyms (that is when you take the first letter of the words and make a nother word or line them up to make a sentence... for instance:
ROY G BIV= a guys name OR red, orange yellow green blue indigo violet! or "King Phillip Came Over For Good Spaghetti" is Kingdom, Phylum, Class Order, Family, Genus, Species!)

Here is another:
SOH ... Sine = Opposite leg divided by the Hypotenuse
CAH ... Cosine = Adjacent leg divided by the Hypotenuse
TOA ... Tangent = Opposite leg divided by the Adjacent leg
Saddle Our Horses, Canter Away Happily Toward Other Adventures
Sex On Holiday, Can Add Highlights To Our Adventures
Sally Can Tell : Oscar Has A Hard On Always
Silly Old Harry Carried A Horse To Our Apartment
Six Overweight Heffalumps Came And Heavily Trod On Arthur
Some Old Hippie Caught Another Hippie Tripping On Acid
The Cat Sat On An Orange And Howled Horribly

Good Luck!

Make up a story using the words you want to memorize.

write the words on index cards, carry them with you and tape some to the refrigerator, bathroom mirror, etc. Try using them in sentences. Don't look at the whole picture, (at how many words you need to know) rather work with a few at a time. Get family and friends to help you out as well.

Write the word down. Then read it and say it while thinking about its meaning. Then write a sentence using the word. Finally, quiz yourself and see how many new vocabulary words you can remember!

Something that might seem crazy, but works like a charm -
Record yourself saying the words and the definitions, and have it play (even if it's very quiet) while you sleep. You'll find that you know at least a large part of the words once you wake up.

you dont memorize. you read books and highlight the new words. then you look them up in the dictionary and make new sentences using them. the more you read the more vocabulary you will get. memorizing never helps.
