It's not up to the sex education teachers in school, the children will respond more to what the parents teach them at home. If they teach their kids that it's okay to be promiscuous and sleep around they more than likely will. If you are honest with your kids and tell them why they should wait and not just have sex ( with or without a condom) with the first boy/girl that tells them that they love them, you'll have a better chance. Prepare them with the lines that boys will use, act out scenerious that they might be in one day and they will know what to say and do more than they would if it was in the heat of passion and they had to make a split descision. My mom was always honest with me so I always saw through the lines I was fed by boys, and I'm glad I didnt' give in because I usually found out after a week of "dating" and not having sex with them that they would move onto my best friend who was a pretty easy lay. I appreciate that my mom was honest with me and loved me enough to warn me and prepare me for those moments. Your kids will be more influenced by YOU the parent in alot of the descisions they make growing up, not by what their friends say or do, especially if you are an active part of their life and they know you care. I wish more girls had a mom like I do...and I can only hope I do the same with all three of my girls!

That should be taught at home by the parents not in school... they may try to help educate a child but the basics and the responsibility falls on the parents of the child, either boy or girl... they need to emphasize from a young age the importance of using a condom, teaching the kids from and early age what STD's are and go online and let them see it so they may feel disgusted and fear it.... If you teach a boy to respect a woman but to trust nobody as to put their body and their life in another persons hand from the date that they are born.. they will not be doing the mistakes that all these young kids are doing today...

Boys have been saying that for YEARS!!!!ALot of the girls have self esteem issues worst then when i was a teen, that was about 10 years ago! they feel the need to be accepted by men more now than ever! So most girls will just open there legs and go with it! We need to get teen girls more self esteem & let them know that men dont make the choice and dont fall for what they say! Be yourself! If you don't want to don't do it & defently dont believe them when they pull put the LOVE card, men lie! I dont think the schools are teaching enough or the parents! I know my own parent never told me anyhting about sex & boys.

I don't think this has anything to do with the times we live in. Teenage boys have used that phrase for as long as I can remember and let me tell you that has been a long time. I raised 3 boys and we always talked to them and made it clear that they are as responsible as the girls for their actions. Saying the word condom in our house was a common place thing and were surprised how shocking that was to our son's friends were. I really believe that as helpful as sex ed is in the schools that the responsibility lies with the family to make absolutely sure that our children's moral education, and since pregnancy is the least of their worries when unprotected sex can very easily lead to a disease that could kill them.

The best response for 'If you love me we don't need it" is to answer in kind- 'If you do love me, repect me and my wishes. In addition you would want to protect me!!!'
Teach this to your lil girls and hope it sticks. Teach your boys that they are not only protecting the girls they are also protecting themselves.
I know that no matter how hard parents try, there will still be kids out there who won't listen but if you save 1 child from the horror of STD or the responsibility of having a baby too young then we did a good job. So never stop protecting your kids.

I think today these guys are awfully confused and all they are thinking about is a warm sensational feeling, and they aren't really thinking about what could come after that 5-10 minute of fame. Some females today are not thinking correctly at all these girls are more concerned about loosing him, rather than loosing their self respect Today it is very important for females to have good role models.

I say it's because they feel that it's more cool to do it without proper protection! They don't think ahead and what the girl does at 18 with no job, no home, and no money, stuck with a baby. They don't think to the future they think of how they would like to have some fun and look cool. But when that baby comes along he just leaves. IT's not fairt to girls!!!

i don't think it's that at all....
i think it's that somewhere the idea of wearing a condom became taboo in the male community.
that they feel invincible and they know that if they don't want to deal with a pregnancy, well, they don't really have to.
the male's doinysian thought towards sex is to enjoy the moment and spread his seed.
condoms go against both of those impluses, so in the heat of the moment, when the apollonian brain is shut down, the thought of a condom becomes obsolete.
basically, guys act and think with only one thing and it's not their brain.
sorry, to those guys who go against this "norm"...don't want to generalize.
also, i don't think it's just this time period. i think it's been this way forever. it's just scarier now with things like teens being more sexually active and teen pregnancy ever on the rise and STDs that kill, like AIDS.
please take care everyone.

well now adays the teenaged girls are just stupid and so are the teenaged boys and thay both attened to think thay are untouchable till something happeneds than thay wonder how it happend. but there is more than just teenaged boys that dont feel there is any need for condoms there are alot of men that think that way too. some men are alergic to laytex so thay think thay dont have to wear a condom but think agin thay do make non-laytx condoms also. but some men and boys wont wear them just cause thay think thay are uncomfortable witch thay are but still thay are there for ur protection from stds and pregnancy

No it is just that... I see these little harlots running around my town with nothing on really.. and then just like you said they want to do everything to be accepted (ie the jelly braclets).. they know it is wrong and they know the outcome you can't blame it on ignorance as sex is all over.... you have to know what is going on unless you lived in a hole your whole life... it is nature. If she doesn't want to get pregnant then be boring and friendless since she won't put out... or use a condom... plain and simple.
