Difficult to say, but I think there is some form of match-fixing that has always existed in football since the 1960s. The countries that have had stronger finances have always had an edge in winning the major football tournaments.

Rumours are floating around that FIFA are, in fact planning another Germany vs Brazil final this time - to do this, they are going to give special orders to the referees to "turn" the matches in the appropriate direction!!!

I personally think that is just a load of crap, because if that were to happen then I will stop watching the World Cups or any major international tournaments, for that matter. Consequently, my friends will stop following it as well & eventually FIFA will lose at least 60-70% of it's fan base which can result in grave consequences including bankruptcy. I would therefore think that if FIFA were smart enough to fix and manipulate results in their favour, they should also be smart enough to not plan another GER vs BRA final this time!!!

No I believe that referees are human and with fifa barking down their back there only trying to follow the rules. Which all are doing. For those screaming for technology guess what even then mistakes can be made. Because there is no 100 percent way of ensuring you get the frame exactly how u want to make a perfect decision. And by the way if there was any corruption it would have had to been with the teams, which i hardly believe. With the way some matches have been played.

It depends on what you mean by corruption, with any sport or competition there will be some form of it only becuase of the nature of competition. Everyone wants to win and with a nation's name on the line its pretty deep. But the world cup is probably, besides the olympics, the most important and influential sporting event in the world, and integrity is a big part of the game.

good point. It would be impossible to prove this theory as there would be so much cover up, but also very hard to disprove totally. In Italian football it is starting to look that way, as it was in French league ('93 I believe with Marseille??). I honestly believe there was corruption in Japan + South Korea '02, you just had to see the circumstances in which South Korea got through to the semi-finals; watch a tape and you'll agree!!!! Majorly though I don't think there is for the amount of football played.

Theres no corruption it's only that some teams have very poor performance unlike Brazil who are masters, and they don't get in fights like other moron players do.

yea because in the game vs us and ghana the ref called a penalty kick, when there was no foul at all, this also happened again in the Italy vs Australia match too
